In addition to enhancing the cosmetic appearance and durability, coatings are now available with antimicrobial properties. Antimicrobial Coatings use chemicals to hinder the growth of pathogens through cellular membrane perturbation, thus protecting the surface against the growth of disease-causing micron-organisms like bacteria, fungi, algae, mould, etc. It is not possible to always clean, disinfect or use strong chemicals on surfaces to prevent the growth of germs. Antimicrobial Coatings can offer a more secure and long-term solution.
